Tugas Utd History
01 Oct 2011

Tugas United Football Club was formed on May 2009 in Thetford, Norfolk, UK, following the folding of an older club, (Watton International FC).  The Phoenix crest symbolizes a club reborn from the ashes of the former team, and the centre of the crest was implemented after an unanimous request made to the Founder / Chairman Joe Barreto, from every member of the newborn team, to install the sphere located on the Portuguese flag in the centre of the phoenix due to the high number of Portuguese players in the Club.  The name is also a tribute to all the initial players that formed the club, that once again, due to their provenience go by the nickname TUGAS.  The Club disputed the local district division (Breckland & District Sunday Football League), and on their first season reached a well disputed and respectful 2nd place in the league.

The club continued to grow, and on their second season, created 2 additional teams:  The A team, that disputed a superior league, (Crown Fire Central & South Norfolk Football League) reaching on that same season a respectful 3rd place on the table, being awarded the club of the month of November of that same year, and stamping their names on the final rounds of most cups entered, such as the quarter finals of the local Football Association Primary Cup (Norfolk FA).  The club also created on that same year a Youth group that competed with a team of Under 12’s that also reached a well deserved 3rd place tied by points to the 2nd placed team of the table.

The icing on the cake for that same season, 2010/2011, came when the district league team, reached the final of the district cup, and brought the victory cup home, giving the Club a since of objective achieved.

During these two previous seasons, the club travelled to the Capital and other cities to dispute seasonal Tournaments.  The Club is now well known from North to South of the country, and continues to gain the respect of their opponents.  The well organized committee continues to work towards the growth of the club, focusing essentially on the social impact and youth development, promoting cohesion and equality among its players of several nationalities, and the local community.
